Girraween Sports Complex

The Girraween Sports Complex Criterium Circuit is a purpose-built, traffic-free cycling track at Noosa Heads on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast. Opened as part of the Girraween Sports Complex in 2012, the circuit provides a dedicated venue for recreational riding, training and competitive criterium racing away from normal road traffic. The sealed circuit is approximately 915 metres long, with Sunshine Coast Cycling Club measuring its race lap at around 940 metres. It wraps around the sporting fields and is designed exclusively for cycling, creating a fast little loop suitable for riders across a wide range of skill and fitness levels. The circuit is regularly used by Sunshine Coast Cycling Club for graded criterium racing and has hosted regional-level competition. It remains an active race venue, including the 2026 Sunshine Coast Criterium, while Noosa Tri Club also uses Girraween for bike training and cycling skills sessions. When not booked for organised events, the track is free for public use, making it a handy place to work on fitness, cornering and bike handling without mixing with cars. The wider complex includes football fields, athletics facilities, clubhouse amenities and parking for around 160 vehicles. If you want to turn those laps into a longer ride, Girraween is also well positioned for exploring Noosa's wider cycling network, with Adventure Sunshine Coast suggesting riders link into the Weyba Creek cycle route after a session on the circuit. RTS TIP: A kilometre doesn't sound like much until you start repeating it at speed! Girraween is a great traffic-free option for practising cornering, building confidence or getting in some fast training laps. Check the race calendar before heading over — you might be able to watch some local crit racing or, better still, line up and have a crack yourself.
