Glass House Mountains Gravel

The Beerburrum & Glass House Mountains Loop is a fantastic 59km gravel cycling adventure in South East Queensland, combining rail trail, quiet country roads, forest tracks and forestry roads with some spectacular views across the iconic Glass House Mountains. Starting in Caboolture, the ride begins with an easy roll along the Caboolture–Wamuran Rail Trail, providing around 10km of sealed riding before the route begins to get more adventurous. From Wamuran, riders leave the rail trail behind and head through quieter roads and into natural forest, following sections of the old Wamuran rail corridor. After a steady climb, the route enters the Beerburrum State Forest, where around 12km of forestry roads lead towards one of the highlights of the ride — the Glass House Mountains Lookout. It's a great place to stop, catch your breath and take in the views across one of Queensland's most distinctive landscapes. From the lookout, things get a little rougher with a short, bumpy and rocky descent before the route settles back into gravel roads towards Beerburrum. From here, a mixture of sealed roads and quieter backroads eventually returns riders towards Caboolture to complete the loop. Rated medium difficulty, this isn't an overly technical ride, but its 59km distance, climbing and rougher descent mean riders should have a reasonable level of fitness and be comfortable handling a bike on changing gravel surfaces. With rail trail, forest riding, gravel roads and those unmistakable Glass House Mountains views all packed into one loop, this is a brilliant way to explore another side of the Sunshine Coast hinterland and Moreton Bay region by bike. RTS Tip: There are toilets and opportunities to stop along the route at Wamuran, Glass House Mountains Lookout and Beerburrum, with coffee and food options available if you want to make a day of it.
