Graeme Jose Velodrome

The Graeme Jose Velodrome on McBryde Terrace in Whyalla is a classic 269m outdoor concrete cycling track and an important piece of South Australian cycling history. The velodrome is named in memory of Graeme Jose, the Whyalla cyclist who became Australian Road Champion and represented Australia at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games before tragically losing his life while racing in Austria in 1973. Memorial gates at the velodrome were built by members of the Whyalla Cycling Club and unveiled in 1976, creating a lasting tribute to one of the city’s most accomplished cyclists.
