Great Queensland Rail Trail Adventure
About this ride
The Great Queensland Rail Trail Adventure is a nine-day bikepacking route from Wulkuraka, near Ipswich, to Gladstone, linking as much rail trail as possible with back roads in between. It follows the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail to Toogoolawah and Yarraman, then continues to Kingaroy, Proston, Gayndah, Eidsvold, Mungungo and Ubobo before the run into Gladstone. Along the way you ride the Barrimoon Tunnels section of the Boyne Burnett Inland Rail Trail. The nine published day stages add up to roughly 683 km and 5,500 m of climbing, mostly 70 to 85 km per day. Some stops along the way have changed hands and opening hours since the route was published, so check food, water and accommodation before you go. A gravel bike or XC mountain bike suits best.
