About this ride

The Hobart Intercity Cycleway is one of greater Hobart’s key cycling routes, following a former railway corridor north from the city through New Town, Moonah, Glenorchy and toward Claremont. Predominantly sealed and separated from road traffic, it provides an accessible ride for families, recreational cyclists and commuters, with plenty of opportunities to join or leave the trail along the way. The route mixes urban scenery with quieter stretches, passing parks, neighbourhoods and remnants of Hobart’s railway history while providing useful connections to other paths across the city. RTS Tip: This is a great trail for exploring Hobart without the car. Start close to the city and ride as far north as you like before turning around, or use the cycleway as the backbone of a longer ride by connecting with other local paths. Keep an eye out at road crossings and busy shared sections, particularly around the more populated areas.
