Majors Road BMX

Majors Road Pump Track at O’Halloran Hill in Adelaide, South Australia, is a purpose-built community cycling facility located alongside the Sam Willoughby International BMX Facility and the mountain bike trails of Glenthorne National Park–Ityamaiitpinna Yarta. The 220 m asphalt pump track is designed for riders of all abilities, with a continuous clockwise loop featuring rollers, berms, jumps and transfer lines. Long straights allow riders to build speed and rhythm, while the central features provide more advanced options for experienced BMX and mountain bike riders. Next door is the Sam Willoughby International BMX Facility, a competition-standard BMX racing venue with 5 m and 8 m start hills and a track designed to host state, national and international-level racing. It is home to The Cove and Happy Valley BMX Clubs; unlike the public pump track, the BMX race track is not open for unrestricted general public riding and requires an appropriate AusCycling licence and access during scheduled sessions. The location also makes Majors Road a great cycling hub for Adelaide’s southern suburbs, with the O’Halloran Hill mountain bike trails immediately nearby. Riders can use the pump track for a quick session or skills warm-up before heading out onto the surrounding MTB network. RTS Tip: The Majors Road Pump Track is the public riding option, so don’t confuse it with the international BMX race track next door. Practise pumping the rollers without pedalling and gradually work up to the faster and more technical transfer lines.
