About this ride

The Manjimup Linear Path is an easy, family-friendly rail trail through the heart of Manjimup in Western Australia’s Southern Forests region, around 290 km south of Perth. Following approximately 4 km of the former Northcliffe Branch Railway, the fully sealed path runs from Manjimup Heritage Park near Graphite Road to Seven Day Road on the southern edge of town. The gentle, largely flat railway alignment makes it suitable for riders of all ages and abilities, including kids, recreational cyclists, e-bikes and touring bikes, with an out-and-back ride of around 8 km. More than just a short town cycleway, the Manjimup Linear Path provides a useful connection into the region’s wider cycling network. Near the centre of Manjimup it intersects with the Manjimup to Deanmill Heritage Trail, a 6 km former timber tramway that also forms part of the Munda Biddi Trail. Together with local connections such as the King Jarrah Path, riders can build a longer car-free ride while exploring Manjimup and its surrounding forest landscape. The route also passes close to Manjimup Heritage Park, where riders can explore railway and timber-industry relics, historic machinery and locomotives connected to the town’s forestry past. With lighting, seating, landscaping and recreation facilities along the Linear Park precinct, this is a great option for a relaxed ride while visiting Manjimup or as an easy addition to a bigger Southern Forests cycling or Munda Biddi adventure. RTS Tip: For a longer ride, don’t turn around at the end of the Linear Path — use the central junction to add the Manjimup to Deanmill Heritage Trail and turn a short town ride into a much bigger exploration. The Linear Path itself is sealed and easy, while the Deanmill trail transitions to compacted gravel, so choose your bike and tyres accordingly.
