Norton Summit Road Climb
About this ride
Norton Summit is Adelaide's favourite climb for cyclists: 6.33 km of continuous climbing at about 5.2% average, measured by the Tour Down Under's Adelaide Bike Atlas from the Magill Road junction to the crest at Teringie Drive. The first kilometre climbs to a panoramic view back over the city above Rostrevor College. The second is a false flat to the first switchback, and the third is a run of switchbacks where you can get out of the saddle. The last two kilometres ease off before the run to the crest. It's less brutal than nearby Woodland Way, but the mix of false flats and gradient spikes makes it a great test. Expect low to medium traffic. Refuel at Norton Summit village at the top.
