Pembroke Park

Pembroke Park BMX Track in Sorell, Tasmania, is home to the Southern City BMX Club and one of the key BMX riding facilities in southern Tasmania. Located around 25 km east of Hobart, the purpose-built BMX facility provides a dedicated race track for riders ranging from young beginners and Mini Wheelers through to experienced BMX racers. Southern City BMX is currently the only registered BMX club in Southern Tasmania, with around 100 members and riders ranging from two years old through to adults in their 50s. The track is used for BMX racing, gate practice, coaching and Come & Try sessions, providing a progression pathway for riders wanting to learn BMX skills or move into competitive racing. The club operates throughout the year, generally running racing on weekends with coaching and gate sessions during the week. Girls' and women's divisions are also part of the club's racing program. Pembroke Park itself is a major sporting and recreation precinct in Sorell, with the BMX facility sitting alongside other community sporting infrastructure. The park's longer-term planning has included improvements to cycling facilities, shared trails and BMX infrastructure, with funding also allocated by the Tasmanian Government towards improvements and equipment for the BMX track. For riders visiting the Hobart and South East Tasmania cycling region, Pembroke Park provides a dedicated BMX option that complements the area's mountain bike riding at locations such as Meehan Range and the wider Hobart trail network. RTS Tip: Pembroke Park is a dedicated BMX race facility, so the best way to experience it for the first time is through one of Southern City BMX's organised Come & Try, coaching or gate-practice sessions. BMX racing requires appropriate protective clothing and equipment; the club advises riders to use a full-face helmet, gloves, long sleeves and long pants.
