Riflebutts, Buttercup & Buller Roads

Escape the bustle of town on this scenic gravel adventure through the quiet backroads surrounding Mansfield, featuring panoramic mountain views, flowing gravel roads and peaceful forest riding. Depart Mansfield via Highett Street, which becomes Monkey Gully Road, before joining the gravel of Riflebutts Road. As the road climbs away from town, enjoy spectacular views across the Delatite Valley towards Mt Buller and the surrounding alpine ranges. After a short section along the Mansfield–Jamieson Road, turn onto Chapel Hill Road before rejoining the gravel at Hearns Road. Shortly after the bitumen resumes, head onto Buttercup Road, where a short rough section leads into one of the highlights of the ride. The next 20 kilometres follow quiet, undulating gravel roads through native bushland and farmland. Expect smooth riding, occasional creek crossings and beautiful stretches of dappled forest that make this section a favourite for gravel riders. The route finishes with a descent along Carters Road before joining the Buller Road for the return ride into Mansfield, completing a rewarding loop that blends alpine scenery, peaceful country roads and classic High Country gravel riding.
