Sydney Olympic Park

This is one of Western Sydney’s best all-round recreational cycling destinations, with more than 35km of cycleways and shared paths connecting Olympic venues, parklands, wetlands and the Parramatta River. The extensive network makes it easy to create anything from a short family ride to a much longer cycling adventure. There are several signed circuits to help riders explore. The Olympic Circuit is around 7.6km and passes landmarks from the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, including the Olympic Cauldron and major sporting venues. The 11km River Heritage Circuit heads towards the Parramatta River and historic Newington Armory, while the easier 5.5km Parklands Circuit explores Bicentennial Park, Lake Belvedere, mangroves and wetlands. For families and newer riders, Bicentennial Park is particularly good, with wide shared paths, playgrounds, picnic areas and a dedicated children’s cycling loop. Bikes can also be hired within the park, including kids’ bikes, geared bikes, tandems and bikes with child-carrying options. There’s more than just easy cycleways too. Riders can check out Monster BMX and Mountain X, while Sydney BMX Club adds dedicated BMX riding to the precinct. One of the biggest advantages of Olympic Park is its connectivity. The cycleways link into the wider Parramatta River cycling network, making it possible to continue towards Parramatta, Rhodes and other parts of Sydney rather than simply riding loops within the park.
