TW Andrews Park Velodrome
About this ride
TW Andrews Park in Preston/Reservoir, Melbourne’s northern suburbs, this outdoor velodrome provides a dedicated space for track cycling, training and fitness riding. The approximately 333-metre oval track is a traditional outdoor cycling facility and has long formed part of Darebin’s cycling infrastructure. The velodrome sits within TW Andrews Reserve, close to the Reservoir Leisure Centre, and offers riders a convenient suburban location to practise pacing, cornering and track-riding skills away from road traffic. It’s a simple, old-school cycling facility that can be a fun addition to a ride through Melbourne’s north. RTS Tip: Velodromes ride differently to a regular bike path, particularly through the banked corners. If you’re unfamiliar with track riding, start at a comfortable pace on the lower part of the track and become familiar with the surface and other riders before increasing your speed. Check for organised training or club use before heading out, and always give riders already on the track plenty of space.
