The Wallsend Tramway Rail Trail is a predominantly sealed shared path through Newcastle’s western suburbs, following sections of the city’s historic tramway corridors between Glendale, Wallsend, Jesmond and Lambton. The best-known section is the Tramway Track between Glendale and Wallsend, following the former steam tramway that once connected Wallsend with West Wallsend and Speers Point. From Glendale, shared paths continue towards Speers Point and Lake Macquarie, while heading east through Lambton allows riders to connect with cycleways towards Newcastle CBD.
