Webb Dock railside trail

The Webb Dock Railside Trail is a short 2.7km urban route through Melbourne’s Docklands and Southbank, following sections of the former Webb Dock freight railway alignment. The sealed shared path crosses the Yarra River via the distinctive Webb Bridge, before continuing along River Esplanade and towards Lorimer Street. The route offers an interesting mix of Melbourne’s railway and maritime history, modern Docklands architecture and waterfront views, with remnants of the old railway still visible further along the former corridor. It’s an easy ride to incorporate into a longer Melbourne city loop, with connections to the Capital City Trail and nearby cycling routes. Westgate Park and the wider Port Melbourne waterfront can also be explored if you’re extending the ride. RTS Tip: Don’t expect a traditional continuous rail trail — this is more of an urban exploration of the former railway alignment. The route currently finishes around Graham Street, and riding further along busy Lorimer Street isn’t recommended. Take your time through the curved southern end of Webb Bridge, which is shared with pedestrians and can get busy.
